For the past century, when discussing intellectual property with an attorney the topic was probably copyrights or patents related to written materials or inventions. Over the past ten years, there has been an explosion not only in high tech intellectual property, but also in the need for representation. Paralegals are now an indispensable part of that representation.
General intellectual property paralegal positions are growing at a high rate. In addition, patent administration is one of fastest growing and highest paid areas of legal administration. Qualified patent paralegals (also called patent specialists or patent secretaries) are in high demand-and can earn up to 50% more than the average paralegal!
