Teresa Malihan-Haggerty founded TMalihanArchitect NYC in 2004 as an innovative studio focusing on providing all phases of architectural and engineering services from pre-design, zoning analysis, building code compliance, programming, schematic, design development, construction documents, project management, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, expediting and construction contract administration. Her current clients include Downton Abbey: the Exhibition at 218 W. 57th St. and Ripley’s Believe It or Not! and Madame Tussauds in Times Square. Her list of clients have included: Dialog in the Dark and Bodies: The Exhibition at South Street Seaport; restaurants, AJ Maxwells at Rockefeller Center, the Statler Grill at Penn Station and Financier; medical facilities, QLIMG and a Staten Island veterinary office; and private residences in Tribeca, NOHO, Todt Hill, Staten Island, Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, and Alpine, New Jersey.
Teresa Malihan-Haggerty began her career working in the design and construction field in 1981. Over the years, she has been involved in corporate architecture, facilities management and designing trading floors for capital markets and their back-office operations for companies including American Express Shearson Lehman, Morgan Stanley and Rockefeller Center Management Corporation with its diversified portfolio of corporate facilities management to high-end commercial and retail environments. She has also served as the Director of Facilities for the United Federation of Teachers, managing all of its design and construction of capital projects for its headquarters in Manhattan and all satellite offices in the boroughs, Boca Raton, Florida and Albany, New York.
Teresa holds a degree and a license to practice architecture in New York State. She also has a Masters of Business Administration in General Management and a Masters in Professional Studies in Industrial Labor Relations from Cornell University.
At New York University’s Real Estate Schack Institute, Teresa Malihan-Haggerty served as an Adjunct Professor in Construction Project Management, Facilities Management, Construction Documents, Principles of Project Management, and Managing Small Development Projects. At the City University of NY – NYC College of Technology, Teresa was an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering and Construction Management. She currently teaches a broad spectrum of subjects for the Regional Alliance for Small Contractors and serves as a lecturer for construction project management, contract administration, cost estimating and blueprint reading for Pace University and New Jersey Institute of Technology.
